Layered Potato-Duo Bake
This Layered Potato-Duo Bake combines the earthy flavor of regular potatoes with the sweetness of sweet potatoes, layered with creamy cheeses and aromatic garlic butter. Its a comforting and indulgent side dish that pairs perfectly with any main course.
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh herbs such as thyme or rosemary for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375F 190C
In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish
Drizzle half of the butter mixture over the potatoes
Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the potatoes
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, butter mixture, and cheeses
Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top of the potato layers
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown
Garnish with chopped fresh herbs before serving
